Jane Langton

Jane Langton was born in Boston in 1922. She studied art history as a graduate student and attended the Boston Museum School from 1958 to 1959. In 1961 she wrote and illustrated The Majesty of Grace, a children’s book, and has since continued writing novels and picture books for children along with adult mysteries. Many of her books take place in Concord, Massachusetts, a town near her current home in Lincoln. Critical recognition of Langton’s work includes a Newbury Honor for The Fledgling, part of the Hall Family Chronicles series, an Edgar Award nomination for Emily Dickinson Is Dead, and a Drood Review of Mystery editors’ choice selection of The Face on the Wall, both Homer Kelly Mysteries.
