Karin Alvtegen

Karin Alvtegen has been called the "Queen of Swedish crime writing", and has received a number of awards, as well as Edgar (for Missing) and CWA International Dagger nominations. For much of her life Alvtegen didn’t consider being a writer. Her parents were both teachers, but nobody had ever convinced her that her ability to write was a talent. Alvtegen’s life changed when her older brother Magnus fell down a mountain and was killed. Alvtegen was grief-stricken, and three years after the event, suffered a panic attack that landed her in the emergency ward. One morning during her recovery time, she woke up with a story in her head, sat down at a typewriter, and cranked out the first chapter of what would be her first novel.
