Kenneth Cameron: Farewell to a true gentleman

Kenneth Cameron: Farewell to a true gentleman

It's with great sadness that I have to report the death of Kenneth Cameron, author of the astonishingly good Denton series, and of many, many more books besides. The sadness is genuine, rather than a corporate simulacrum: I can't claim to have known Mr. Cameron well, but he delighted me in the few email exchanges we had. He was witty, gracious, deeply intelligent, and (and this really blew my mind) entirely willing to collaborate with a woman young enough to be his daughter. I made the very difficult decision to pass on the novel—his final novel—that I had been given:...

Why the Paws?

Why the Paws?

Our boxes are full of books, not cats (fortunately...or unfortunately, depending upon your perspective?), but you get the idea. We're taking advantage of the post-holiday doldrums to get through a long-overdue move to a new warehouse and shipping company! The result should be better service for everyone, end to end, but for now, all our print books are packed up in (cat-free) boxes, and we cannot send them to you. We've loved Elizabeth Ironside for years, and her Death in...

So, just as NYC has approved cocktails to go, softening the sting of lockdown and the longer delivery times as we wait for our dinners, we have come up with some goodies, a spoonful of sugar that, we hope, will make waiting for the post more...

Mayhem of the Month, April 2020

Mayhem of the Month, April 2020

The Internet these days is full of ideas for how to turn the lemons of our Current Situation into lemonade. Homeschool the children! Clean out your kitchen cabinets! Learn German! I respond to most of these suggestions with a ladylike Bronx cheer…and yet I offer one of my own: Consider using the enforced down-time, combined with our ebook sale, to explore some writers with whom you might not be familiar. So many mystery authors write in series, and what could be more wonderful than finding a new voice that really speaks to you? Our plan is to use this space...
