Lucretia Grindle--and yes, that is indeed her given name, chosen by her circus-performer mother--is an American writer of atmospheric mysteries, the most recent of which are set in Italy at various historical moments, exploring the dark corners of Italian cities. Grindle has spent many years in England, but currently lives in Maine.
