William Kotzwinkle

William Kotzwinkle, the author of The Game of 30, written with a classic noir sensibility, is an American author who has written widely in a number of genres, including children's literature (he is the author of the "Walter the Farting Dog" series, and of the novelization of E.T., the Extraterrestrial), short stories, poetry, and novels. His first published work was the book of short stories Elephant Bangs Train, which he followed up with The Fan Man, a cult favorite set in 1960s East Village, and then Doctor Rat, told from the point of view of research animals, which won the World Fantasy Award for Best Novel in 1977.
