Julian Symons
Julian Symons, born in 1912 in London, was a British crime writer and poet. He is regarded as one of the most influential crime writers in the genre, predating writers like Ruth Rendell and P.D. James in his focus on character and psychology. His novels tended to focus on ordinary people being drawn to murder. Symons published over thirty crime novels and story collections between 1945 and 1994 and went on to win two Edgar Awards and the MWA's Grand Master Award.
