Marissa Piesman
Marissa Piesman, a graduate of Northeastern University School of Law, is an attorney with the New York State Office of the Attorney General. She is also the author of the Nina Fischman mystery series set in New York and featuring a very funny Bronx-raised Jewish lawyer (and her mother and assorted relatives and friends). A lot of the details of Nina's life are based on Piesman's own. The series, like its author, is deeply embedded in New York life. In 1993, three novels into the series, Piesman told the New York Times that she wrote her books on the subway, during her morning commute.
