The Blasphemers Launch Party at The Mysterious Bookshop in NYC

In early January New York’s own Mysterious Bookshop played host to the most glittering event: A combined launch party for The Blasphemers (No. 3 in Annamaria Alfieri’s series set in British East Africa just before the First World War) and The Widows of Malabar Hill, by Sujata Massey, set in 1920s India*. Both authors read and—even more interesting (to me)—talked extensively about the role of women in Asia and Africa in the early 20th century. It was a knockout double-act, and we’re thrilled to say that all the books sold out.** Join us next time!

*We don’t publish Sujata; she’s with Soho Crime, and we can’t think of a publisher with whom we’d prefer to be paired.

** You'd kill for a signed first edition of The Blasphemers? Darling, we know the feeling. We shipped the last of the firsts to Mysterious, which has a few left. Call 212-587-1011, and tell ’em Maggie sent you.
